SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento Kings fans have expressed their displeasure in a variety of ways this season while watching their team go 5-14 with an eight-game losing streak and several embarrassing blowout losses.

They’ve booed the Kings off the court and shouted “sell the team” at Kings owner Vivek Ranadivé, but their frustrations boiled over in a new way Wednesday when one fan got into a heated exchange behind the team’s bench.

Season ticket holder Devlin Carter was escorted out of the arena following a fiery confrontation with Kings guard Zach LaVine during a 112-100 loss to the Phoenix Suns at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento. Video of the altercation spread quickly on the internet with many people commenting that Carter was speaking for all Kings fans.

Carter later took to social media, posting in an Instagram Story: “I got kicked out of the game tonight, but at least the Kings fans feel me!!”

Carter went further in a second Instagram Story, adding: “I said, We aint come here to watch yall not play defense.”

Carter explained the altercation in greater detail in an Instagram Reel (language warning), saying he lashed out at LaVine after watching him leave his man open for several uncontested 3-pointers.

LaVine finished with 13 points and six turnovers while going 5 of 14 from the field and 1 of 6 from 3-point range.

“You get paid over $40 million,” Carter said. “You only got eight points and we in the fourth quarter. You didn’t show up. Once again, you didn’t show up. All these fans in Sacramento deserve better than that.

“You should know you playing like trash and you should be harder on yourself than the fans are hard on you. … Sacramento Kings fans deserve better.”
